THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond her legal practice and she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law, including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's requirements.
